A Couple of Cards and Apples

Wow, it's been a couple of weeks since I posted. Sorry about that. We have been busy and time just gets away from me.

Today I want to share a couple of cards that I made in the past week. I have really been into making cards lately. I need to get back to my scrapbooking cause I am so far behind with that.

Anyways, the first card that I made is a Halloween card. Halloween/Fall is my favorite time of year and I can't wait for it to get here. I am loving that all of the stores have the fall decorations out already. And yesterday when I was in our local Michael's they are already putting out the Christmas stuff....Wow!!

I used just some scrap stuff that I had in my drawers for this card. The "Trick or Treat" stamp is a $1 one that I got at Joann's. And the candy corn ribborn is from K&Company. Can't really see it in the picture but the black embossing powder that I used is glittery.

The second card I made is for my daughter's girlfriend who just moved into a new condo. This card is going with a big batch of peanut butter cookies which I making this morning.

I cut the birdhouse on my cricuit and SCAL. I cut it a couple of times in different patterened papers and then pieced it together. Thought it came out really cute. The blue background is a little flower G Stamp that I had and a blue chalk pad that almost matched the cardstock. The stitching around the green is rub-on stitches (love those). I was going to put Home Sweet Home at the bottom but didn't have a stamp or a sticker that said that so I added the buttons instead. This isn't how I envisioned this card when I started it but I still think it came pretty cute.

And last but not least this is what I made for dessert last night - Caramel Apple Bars. Yummy!!
Used a really simple recipe - actually kinda cheated and used a cookie mix. And right now in our area we have tons of great apples that are now ripe.

Look what a $1 buys you...

Yep, for a $1 a piece at Joann's you can get these cute little birdhouses. Which turned out to be exactly what we needed for our RV project that we have been working on for vacation.
Didn't this just turn out so cute??? It's our "Welcome to our Camp" project. We wanted to doing something dog-themed but just couldn't find what we were looking for. So I spent Monday and Tuesday running around trying to figure something out for it. And came up with the idea of using birdhouses.
I went into our nearest Joann's and they had a big display of their $1 birdhouses. So I think it was meant to be because right before I went into Joann's I was in Beverly's Crafts and found the adorable red bird we used. I used Patio Paint on the birdhouses so that they will hold up being outside in the sunlight. Added some buttons and rub-ons for decoration and clear coated everything. The little Welcome sign is something that I picked up at Michael's on clearance for 74 cents. It had 2 fish dangling off of it but I just cut those off and saved them for another project. The letters on the Welcome sign I cut out of vinyl on the Cricut. The light on top is a leftover solar light from the front yard. Added a little green moss to it and there you have it!! Total cost for our little project was under $20.
Today I am working on a Birthday card for my Mom and hope to have it finished by tomorrow. But right now I am off to go grocery shopping. Have a great Friday!!!

Peaches

Yummy! Don't those peaches look good? That's what I am working on this morning before it gets too hot here. Getting these all sliced up and in the freezer for pies this winter. A friend of ours has their own little mini orchard and are nice enough to share. I've already done 1 batch of these this summer. Antone have a favorite Peach recipe they would like to share?
Last night when I was bringing them home, they made my whole car smell so good. Peach is one of my favorite scents.
And speaking of last night, the girls and I went and saw Julie and Julia. It was a good movie but alittle long. My butt was pretty numb when it was over. This movie is over 2 hours long but worth the time to see. Meryl Streep does a great job as Julia Child. And Amy Adams wasn't bad either.
The next movie I want to see is The Traveler's Wife. It looks really good!!
Well I better get to those peaches. It's suppose to really warm up here to do so I've already started dinner. I am trying out a new recipe called Crescent Roll Lasagna. I am also working on a few other projects that I haven't finished enough to share but I will.

Quick Layout

Here is a quick layout that I did Sunday night. I actually scrap lifted it out of a magazine. The layout that I copied was for a Halloween layout but it worked pretty well for these pictures. I always seem to have problems coming up with layouts when I only have 1 or 2 pictures to use. Usually these are the layouts that get left out of albums and the pictures end up on my scrap desk for months (or years in this case).

I love the ribbon that I used. It was in the dollar bin at Michael's and it says "Make a wish". The strip of candles under the title is from a sheet of paper by Paper Adventures, there are 4 rows on the paper and it worked out great to cut one off for the background behind the title.

The title I cut out using my cricut and SCAL - I love that program and for me it has made having a Cricut so worth it. You can't see it in the picture but I added Stickles to the letters to make them glittery.

Today I am working on a new project that I came up with last night. I am hoping that it comes out the way I am envisioning it. I'll share it as soon as I am done.

Country Fair

Martin and I went to the County fair last week and I thought I would share some pictures with you. As a kid growing up I spent alot of summers at this fair with my sisters and brother showing our 4-H projects and market lambs. We got to actually stay at the fair in our camp trailer with my Mom and Dad would come up at night after work. Those were good times...

These first couple of pictures are from the Adult Exhibit Hall. Aren't those quilts and that clock beautiful?

And we can't forget the food at the fair. We just sorta ate our way through it...

And all of the cute animals...



We have a beautiful flower building and every year they have a different theme. This year's theme was something to do with Dinosaurs (it was kinda weird).

Every year the last thing we have at the fair are these wonderful hot cinnamon rolls.
