Another Busy Week

Well it's been another busy week here. We have our Annual Family Pumpkin Dinner this Saturday night and I have been busy making and doing stuff for that. I will post pictures next week so you can see what I did.

We also started training classes with a new dog trainer and have been busy practicing with Maggie and Wyatt every night. It's actually been a lot of fun walking over to the park every night and working with them. We have another session with the trainer on Saturday.

I did manage to make a couple of cards this week. My hubby needed a Thank You card for a customer who shared some great homemade jams and homemade Ketchup with us.
I love the Swiss Cheese punch that I got at Michael's and thought it went really well with the background paper that I used on the Thank You card. The stamps that I used on the Halloween card are Penny Black and Stephaine Barnard. Love both of those companies.

Also still working on Halloween cards. I need 1 more and then I am done and can start on Thanksgiving cards. Plus I have a couple of Birthdays in Nov. that I will need cards for.

Here are the cards that I did:

Well I still have some errands and housecleaning that I need to get done today. So have a great weekend.

Happy Friday!!

Where has this week gone? It seems like it was just Monday. I am glad the week is over cause Hubby is no longer "On Call" and we don't have to worry about him leaving in the middle of dinner.

So I've been working on a few projects this week and wanted to share the one that is most important to me at this time of year.

They are my holiday cards for Operation WriteHome. This is such a great organization and I love making cards for them. I started making cards when I first found out about them a little more then a year ago. And this year I have 2 nephews in Afghanistan so it's even more important to me to make sure our Servicemen and women know that people are thinking about them during the holidays. Even if your not a card maker, they can always use money donantions to get these cards over to our troops. If you haven't heard of them, here is a link to their website. http://operationwritehome.org/ Please go spend a few minutes checking them out and do what you can to help.

So here are the cards that I have finished so far. I still have a few more to make before I get them in the mail for the Nov. 1st deadline.

Friday Part 2

With my girlfriends coming over on Saturday to scrap I decided that I wanted to make a special dessert instead of the same old brownies that I seem to make. So I went through some of my cookbooks and found a recipe for A Candy Bar Pie. This looked so good and reminded me of my favorite pie (snickers Pie) at a restaurant in town that is now closed. So off to the store I went to get everything that I needed. BTW, this turned out to be an expensive pie to make.

First things first - Start out with the crust and bake for about 8 minutes.

Then once it's baked, line the bottom with snickers bars cut into pieces.

Mix together all the other ingredients including 12 oz of cream cheese and pour over the snicker bars.

And bake it for about 30 minutes.

Add the chocolate topping (which I forgot to take a picture of ) and let it chill for 3 hours.

It turned out great and very rich. Hubby had to sample it that night to make sure that it tasted good. The girls loved it and it was all gone by Sunday night.

It was a great day with my girlfriends even though a whole lot more chatting took place then scrapping. But I did manage to finish a layout for our Disney album.

Busy Couple of Days

Wow, well this past Friday and Saturday were busy days for me and I can't wait to share everything that I did with you. Let me just warn you now, it's picture heavy!
Let's start with Friday: Every Christmas I make tons of notes and to do lists for myself and my family and usually I just use whatever notebook I happen to have on hand. But this year I decided to make something alittle more festive for myself. So I had this idea in my head for a couple of weeks now but just didn't have the time to sit down and really decide how I wanted to do. So Friday afternoon after I was done cleaning the house I sat down and started working on it.
This is the notebook that I decided to use. Got it for a $1 at Michael's, all the other materials came out of my stash.

then I labeled it for this year with some Alpha stickers using my Creative Memories Titletopia (love, love this thing - best thing I ever bought from CM)

Then I cut out red and green tabs with my Cricut & SCAL. There are tabs for To Do, To Buy and then one for each family member and an extra one for family & friends.

The next step was to make a Receipts pocket for the back so that all of them are in one place in case they are needed after Christmas. (I still have my receipts from last year Ü)

Used brads and floss for a closure on it and secured it in the back of the notebook.

Then added some ribbons to it to make it pretty

And Ta Da my Christmas 2009 notebook.

I just love how it came out!! Hey check back to see what else I made Friday. Something really yummy!!

Cute Candy Box

Today when I was cruising around the web I came across this called site called Project Tuesday (http://sasprojecttuesday.blogspot.com/)which posts a new project every Tuesday. They have some cute stuff on there with links to the project instructions. This project happened to come from a lady on Split Coast Stampers - here is the link for the template and instructions. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326706

As I was looking at all the past projects I came across this cute candy box and decided to try making it for a couple of girlfriends that are coming over this Saturday to scrap. One of them is really into Halloween so I am making them little Trick or Treat boxes.

I used a Studio G stamp for the candy corn and colored them in using the Bic Mark-it pens, and tied the corners with some orange ribbon that I had. The paper came from a DCWV stack that I got last year.

This would be cute to make for co-workers, kids, neighbors or anyone you want to give a little treat too. Also by just using different patterned paper you could make them for any holiday or special occasion.

A Fun Mini Album

Just had to share this cute little mini album that I made yesterday. Now I can't take any credit for the idea cause my sister is the one who sent me the instructions and all of the parts and pieces. I just put it all together and added pictures. But it is a super easy little album to make and quick to put together.

And the best part is the front and back cover are recycled used gift cards. I always hate throwing those away because it feels like such a waste. Now I have a way to reuse them.

This is the front cover - it's a used gift card from Wal Mart.

These are some of the pages

And the nice thing is you can put as many pages or as few as you want.

Is that just the cutest little album????
