TA DA...

Well here it is the finished project. I bought this shelf a couple of years ago at Roberts in Utah and just never put it up. The 4 areas underneath the self are for pictures but I just didn't like that idea so once we got the hall done this idea just popped into my head. Which I am so glad, cause I tired of moving this thing around in my craft closet. I still need to get a small mirror to put above it and candles in the holders but otherwise I love it and I think it is the perfect touch for that small wall.

The little metal saying above the H is "Happiness is..." The O has a keyhole in the middle, the M has a key and the E has a heart.

So after I finished up the shelf project, I got busy cleaning my scrap space. It always looks so nice once I am done cleaning but believe me it won't stay that way for long. I have a whole day to play in there today .

Cleaning and a Sneak Peek...

Wow! Where does the time go... I am home all the time now and it doesn't seem like I have enough time to do anything. I have a whole To Do list and so far I've marked one thing off of it.

The thing that I got to mark off the list is getting pictures hung up in the hallway now that everything is done in there. So Martin and I sat down yesterday and picked the pictures that we wanted to hang, I printed them out on my great Epson printer, got them in their frames and up on the walls. It looks great!!! I have to print out one more 8 x10 but then I think we are done. This is the frame that we filled with family pictures... (No those aren't our pictures...LOL)

Saturday I looked at my scrap room and decided that it needed a good cleaning. There were dust bunnies and stuff everywhere. But a funny thing happens when I start cleaning my scrap area, I always come up with the best ideas so then I end up playing more then cleaning. Ask my family and they will tell you that I am always cleaning my scrap room. Here's a picture of it before I started cleaning...
And here is a sneak peek of the great idea that I came up with....

I'll be back tomorrow to show you the finished project but for now I need to get some more cleaning done in the rest of the house.

A New Hallway

So this is what I've been up to for the last week. Re-doing my hallway. I love how it came out, still have pictures to hang but for now I am enjoying how fresh and clean everything is...

I've been wanting to re-do the hall for 2 years, ever since we had the new furnace put in. But I knew it was going to be a big job so we just kept putting it off. So since I have so much free time on my hands now I decided to jump in and get it done.
Now that this is out of the way, I can get on with some other projects - like cleaning my scrap room so that I can work in there. I have some scrap projects to do but first I really need to clean up and maybe re-organize alittle bit. I'll keep you posted.

New Dog Card

So here is a little card that I made using my new Penny Black stamps. I love her stamps and am thrilled that they come in clear versions. They are so much easier to store then the wood stamps. I ordered 2 Penny Black sets of stamps from Addicted to Stamping. This stamp is in a set called "Bubbly" and the other set I picked up is called " Critter Party".
I used a little Glossy Accents to make the tie stand out. Then I water colored the dog's body instead of using markers. I've always liked using water color pencils but haven't perfected the technique yet. For the "Hello" title I used a trick that I learned on one of the many Cricut sites that I visit. You cut your title several time and then stack and glue them together for a 3-D effect. This is a great way to use up scrap paper too.

I am not sure who will be receiving this card yet so for now it will live in my stash until the right time comes along for me to send it somewhere.

MIA - and the reasons why

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted and I am sorry about that. I hate when I am following some one's blog and they just stop posting. Life has been a little crazy around our house lately. So let me catch you up with what has been happening.

As of last Friday I was laid off from my job, which is depressing especially in this economy. I am trying to stay upbeat about it. Right now I am in the process of regrouping, working on the old resume, stalking Monster, Craigslist and Hot Jobs daily and contacting employment agency's. And I've already filed for unemployment. That was a first for me, I've never been laid off before so this is all new territory to me. I am lucky that I have a hubby that has a great job so that takes some pressure off.

But things with the Hubby aren't the best right now as he hurt his back and has been in major pain for a couple of months now. Last week we had a couple of Dr. appts and had an MRI done. The bad news is that he has 3 herniated discs in his lower back, the good news is the Specialist that we saw doesn't want to rush into surgery and has a few other things that we are going to try first. So keep your fingers crossed that some of things will bring relief to my poor guy.

On top of the back pain, the poor guy ended up working over 40 hours of overtime the week before 4th of July. The overtime will come in handy now that I am not working but I just felt so bad for him. Especially with his back problems.

We did go camping for the weekend of the 4th and had a great time. It was so nice to be out in the RV again. The kids cam out Friday night for a BBQ and then Saturday night it was just the two of us to watch the fireworks. I had the dogs groomed before we left and here is a picture of them in their spiffy 4th of July bandannas. (Sorry it's a poor picture).

Will post a card tomorrow that I've been working on with some new stamps that I got.
