Hot Cocoa Card

So here is the Hot Cocoa card that I made for my niece. I really love how it came out and it was so fun to make. I used my cricut and and svg file with SCAL. (look that program). I found the packets of hot chocolate mix at Wal-Mart. The snowflake on the front has Stickles on it to make it sparkly.

I also picked up this great Penguin stamp at Joann's for a $1.00 over the weekend. I collect Penguins so I couldn't pass it up. Just a simple little winter card to send with a package that I have for my sister. Foe some reason your can't see the snowflakes that I stamped as a background in white chalk.

Black Friday

Wow!! It's already been a week since I was here. Time is just flying by. Hopefully everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know that my family and I did. My daughters and I hit the midnight sale at our local outlet mall. Was a little disappointed this year, we usually find some great things but not so much this year.

On Friday hubby and I headed to Reno to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We had a wonderful time. Our daughters gave us as a gift a great suite at a hotel/spa/casino in Reno and concert tickets to Trans Siberia Orchestra. If you ever have the chance to go and see them in concert I highly recommend it. It was a great way to start off the holiday season. Here is their website: http://www.trans-siberian.com/

But while we were in Reno, hubby and I did get to do some shopping for ourselves. He went to Shepler's where I talked him into almost a whole new wardrobe. Then off to my favorite scrapbook store there called Treasured Memories. And it just so happened that we were there at the right time. They were giving you 20% off your entire purchase for Black Friday. Plus the gal gave me another 10% for being out of state.....whoo hooo!!!

Here is the haul that I came home with:

The best part of the sale were the basket full of random things for a $1.00 each. Boy did I score there by stocking up on these:

$15.00 dollars worth of replacement blades for $3.00 Yippeee!!

This is my favorite craft knife and it is so nice to be stocked on blades for it.

I am working on the cutest Hot Chocolate card and hope to finish it this weekend to share. I also need to make some nice Thank You cards. We are expecting rain on Sunday and I can't wait to have the whole day in my scrap room.

Christmas is Coming!!

I know, I know, Thanksgiving isn't even here yet but I love Christmas and start doing things for it long before most people want to even think about it. My youngest daughter is the same way. Only she listens to Christmas music all year long.

Anyway, this is my new favorite breakfast treat....Spiced Eggnog Scones. So Yummy!!!! I picked up the mix at Safeway and its made by a company called Sticky Fingers. So easy and so good!!!

And here is a little Christmas card that I made using a SVG file on the cricut and then just some scraps and things that I had. I filled in the mittens, hat and pant cuffs with Frosted Lace stickles. They don't show up so well in the picture but add just the right touch to all the white.

Hope your having a great weekend.

Some Yummy Chocolate

So hubby was out of town this weekend quad riding so I planned lots of girl stuff for me. Friday night started out with a couple of girlfriends that I scrapbook with came over so we could watch the movie "New in Town" - I love this movie!! So after 3 bottles of wine and snacks at about 10 pm we settled down to watch the movie. Mind you this movie is only 1 1/2 hour long but we didn't finish until 1 am - we having too much fun and had to keep pausing it.

Saturday morning I went to a couple of craft fairs with Kendall and some shopping at Kohl's. We found some great jams at the craft fair and I bought the cutest little gingerbread girl candy dish. I will have to post a picture later of it. Such a cute idea and anyone could make it.

Saturday afternoon I met Amanda and a friend at our little museum where for this month they have an exhibit called "Schindler's List" (I loved this movie) and a local speaker who survived the holocaust. It was all very, very interesting. We are going back next Saturday for another speaker - a lady who is in our book club.

Saturday night was the best part. Not only did I get to spend the evening with my 2 daughters but there was Chocolate involved.

We went to this little Chocolate place down town that does Chocolate Fondue. It was so good!!!!

All that for only $20 - what a deal. They also have cases full of yummy looking desserts and chocolates...... I was in heaven!!!!

Needless to say that by Sunday I was exhausted but pleasantly so. Hope you had a good weekend to.

Beach Clock

So I am the type of person that needs to have a clock in almost every room of my house including my bathroom. And I just happen to find this clock kit at Big Lots for $3.99.

So I bought it and decided to use it in the bathroom but first I had to decorate it to fit the beach theme we have in our bathroom. So I pulled out all the beach themed embellishments that I had and came up with a great little set of Studio G stamps that I had picked up to use in our Disneyland album. And I had some ribbon and an ink pad that matched the paint color and a sand colored paper for the background. I used number stickers and circles for the clock part.

As I was getting everything together I decided that I should decoupage the background paper so that it could stand up to the steam from showers. I also pulled out my chalks to highlight the dye cuts that I was using.

So here it is the finished product. I am super happy with it and love having a clock in the bathroom again.

Still Here

I am still here, just super busy lately. The good news is that I have a job. Yipppeeee!!! The bad news is that I have a to-do list a mile long and I am trying to get everything done and organized before I go back to work. The last 4 months have been wonderful but I am ready to go back to work.

Our 5th annual Pumpkin Dinner was a lot of fun and the pumpkins turned out great. I was so bummed that they all molded before we got to light them for Halloween but I guess that is what happens when it's the end of October and the weather is still in the 70's. Crazy weather for this time of year.

Anyway, wanted to share a few pictures from Pumpkin dinner. The 1st one is of the treats that I made for every one's place at the table. They all got their favorite candy.

Here are some from the pumpkin patch:

And of course our finished pumpkins...

And here is one last Halloween card that I made:

Another Busy Week

Well it's been another busy week here. We have our Annual Family Pumpkin Dinner this Saturday night and I have been busy making and doing stuff for that. I will post pictures next week so you can see what I did.

We also started training classes with a new dog trainer and have been busy practicing with Maggie and Wyatt every night. It's actually been a lot of fun walking over to the park every night and working with them. We have another session with the trainer on Saturday.

I did manage to make a couple of cards this week. My hubby needed a Thank You card for a customer who shared some great homemade jams and homemade Ketchup with us.
I love the Swiss Cheese punch that I got at Michael's and thought it went really well with the background paper that I used on the Thank You card. The stamps that I used on the Halloween card are Penny Black and Stephaine Barnard. Love both of those companies.

Also still working on Halloween cards. I need 1 more and then I am done and can start on Thanksgiving cards. Plus I have a couple of Birthdays in Nov. that I will need cards for.

Here are the cards that I did:

Well I still have some errands and housecleaning that I need to get done today. So have a great weekend.

Happy Friday!!

Where has this week gone? It seems like it was just Monday. I am glad the week is over cause Hubby is no longer "On Call" and we don't have to worry about him leaving in the middle of dinner.

So I've been working on a few projects this week and wanted to share the one that is most important to me at this time of year.

They are my holiday cards for Operation WriteHome. This is such a great organization and I love making cards for them. I started making cards when I first found out about them a little more then a year ago. And this year I have 2 nephews in Afghanistan so it's even more important to me to make sure our Servicemen and women know that people are thinking about them during the holidays. Even if your not a card maker, they can always use money donantions to get these cards over to our troops. If you haven't heard of them, here is a link to their website. http://operationwritehome.org/ Please go spend a few minutes checking them out and do what you can to help.

So here are the cards that I have finished so far. I still have a few more to make before I get them in the mail for the Nov. 1st deadline.

Friday Part 2

With my girlfriends coming over on Saturday to scrap I decided that I wanted to make a special dessert instead of the same old brownies that I seem to make. So I went through some of my cookbooks and found a recipe for A Candy Bar Pie. This looked so good and reminded me of my favorite pie (snickers Pie) at a restaurant in town that is now closed. So off to the store I went to get everything that I needed. BTW, this turned out to be an expensive pie to make.

First things first - Start out with the crust and bake for about 8 minutes.

Then once it's baked, line the bottom with snickers bars cut into pieces.

Mix together all the other ingredients including 12 oz of cream cheese and pour over the snicker bars.

And bake it for about 30 minutes.

Add the chocolate topping (which I forgot to take a picture of ) and let it chill for 3 hours.

It turned out great and very rich. Hubby had to sample it that night to make sure that it tasted good. The girls loved it and it was all gone by Sunday night.

It was a great day with my girlfriends even though a whole lot more chatting took place then scrapping. But I did manage to finish a layout for our Disney album.

Busy Couple of Days

Wow, well this past Friday and Saturday were busy days for me and I can't wait to share everything that I did with you. Let me just warn you now, it's picture heavy!
Let's start with Friday: Every Christmas I make tons of notes and to do lists for myself and my family and usually I just use whatever notebook I happen to have on hand. But this year I decided to make something alittle more festive for myself. So I had this idea in my head for a couple of weeks now but just didn't have the time to sit down and really decide how I wanted to do. So Friday afternoon after I was done cleaning the house I sat down and started working on it.
This is the notebook that I decided to use. Got it for a $1 at Michael's, all the other materials came out of my stash.

then I labeled it for this year with some Alpha stickers using my Creative Memories Titletopia (love, love this thing - best thing I ever bought from CM)

Then I cut out red and green tabs with my Cricut & SCAL. There are tabs for To Do, To Buy and then one for each family member and an extra one for family & friends.

The next step was to make a Receipts pocket for the back so that all of them are in one place in case they are needed after Christmas. (I still have my receipts from last year Ü)

Used brads and floss for a closure on it and secured it in the back of the notebook.

Then added some ribbons to it to make it pretty

And Ta Da my Christmas 2009 notebook.

I just love how it came out!! Hey check back to see what else I made Friday. Something really yummy!!

Cute Candy Box

Today when I was cruising around the web I came across this called site called Project Tuesday (http://sasprojecttuesday.blogspot.com/)which posts a new project every Tuesday. They have some cute stuff on there with links to the project instructions. This project happened to come from a lady on Split Coast Stampers - here is the link for the template and instructions. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326706

As I was looking at all the past projects I came across this cute candy box and decided to try making it for a couple of girlfriends that are coming over this Saturday to scrap. One of them is really into Halloween so I am making them little Trick or Treat boxes.

I used a Studio G stamp for the candy corn and colored them in using the Bic Mark-it pens, and tied the corners with some orange ribbon that I had. The paper came from a DCWV stack that I got last year.

This would be cute to make for co-workers, kids, neighbors or anyone you want to give a little treat too. Also by just using different patterned paper you could make them for any holiday or special occasion.

A Fun Mini Album

Just had to share this cute little mini album that I made yesterday. Now I can't take any credit for the idea cause my sister is the one who sent me the instructions and all of the parts and pieces. I just put it all together and added pictures. But it is a super easy little album to make and quick to put together.

And the best part is the front and back cover are recycled used gift cards. I always hate throwing those away because it feels like such a waste. Now I have a way to reuse them.

This is the front cover - it's a used gift card from Wal Mart.

These are some of the pages

And the nice thing is you can put as many pages or as few as you want.

Is that just the cutest little album????

Target $1 Spot

As you might remember from a few posts ago I bought myself a new bookcase for all of my albums at Target. Which I love but Sunday morning when I looked at the sale papers it was on sale for $30 less then what I bought it for. With me being out of work I have to save every penny I can so I took my receipt back to Target and they were so nice and gave me the sale price and refunded the difference.
So since I was already in the store I decided to check out the $1 spot to see if they had any good Halloween or Fall stuff yet.

And lo and behold they had the cutest apple scrapbook paper. So of a course I have to pick it up to scrap my applesauce making this summer. Then I saw the really cute fall and Halloween papers. So I had to pick those up too. And of course Kendall needed all of this paper too.

So all in all I only actually got $13.00 back for the bookcase but so worth it. Here are the papers that I got:
Apples:

Fall:

Halloween:

Nice little papers for a $1 and I can put them all to good use.

The Week From Hell

Hello, Hello , I am still here! Last week was a terrible week, I was sick from Monday until Saturday and spent 2 whole days in bed doing absolutely nothing, I couldn't even tell you what I watched on TV those days. And on top of that I had 2 job interviews and didn't get either job. How depressing!!! The only upside to being unemployed is that I didn't have to use any sick days.

But before I got sick I did make another Halloween card and wanted to share it with you.

I made the border on the side using my new EK Success punch that looks like Swiss cheese. I been waiting that punch for a while and finally broke down and got it when Michael's had their punches for 40% off. I am so glad that I did. This punch is going to be so much fun to use on different cards and layouts.

And yesterday since I was feeling better I spent some time in my scrap room and made a couple signs for my walls. I made both of them with stuff that I had in my stash, The Mary Engelbright stickers I've had forever and just love them. It was nice to use them on something that I will see every time I am in my room.

Well I need to go get somethings done this morning. I am putting a ham in the oven for dinner and making Macaroni salad. We are under Red Flag warnings until Tuesday at 6pm because of the heat that they are expecting us to have today and tomorrow. And with being sick all last week my house needs to be cleaned. So I am hoping to get it all done before the heats sets in.
